rugby
The concept of rugby revolves around a dynamic and physically demanding team sport that is played with an oval-shaped ball. Rugby is known for its combination of strategy, athleticism, and camaraderie, making it a popular sport worldwide, especially in countries like England, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, and France.
The primary objective in rugby is for two teams, each comprising 15 players, to score points by carrying or kicking the ball to the opposing team's goal area. The primary ways of scoring are by scoring a "try" or a "conversion." A "try" is worth five points and occurs when a player places the ball on or over the opposition's goal line. After scoring a try, the attacking team can attempt a "conversion" kick, worth an additional two points if successful.
Rugby is a continuous and flowing game, with minimal stoppages compared to sports like American football. The players pass the ball laterally or backward to teammates, and they can run with it or kick it to gain territory. Tackling is a fundamental aspect of the game, where players use their physicality to bring down opponents with possession of the ball. Unlike American football, rugby tackles must be made below the shoulders and without excessive force or dangerous play.
